‘Future Antiques’ is the trading name for a
young furniture-making business located in the hamlet of Chisbury in
Wiltshire. The enterprise was started in 2005 by Timothy
Yates who graduated with an Honours
Degree in Furniture Design from the University of High Wycombe in 2001.
Before, during and after his degree course, Tim has worked – and learned
from – all the main local furniture making companies in the area of the
Bedwyn villages. So he learned his trade both academically and
practically, and like any true craftsman, he loves and respects the
materials he uses, particularly the hardwoods that he prefers to work
with.
Tracy Booth is the apprentice who works
part time under Tim’s direction, and
Chris
Culmer is the latest addition to
the Future Antiques team. Chris studied Design and Realisation before
doing Environmental Studies at Portsmouth University. He learned his
skilled craftsmanship during the ten years he worked on the design and
production of tables at Sir William Bentley Billiards.
